Wolfram Christ,
viola, is one of the few viola players who have been able to
make an international reputation as a soloist. Numerous prizes and
awards, such as at the ARD competition in Munich, smoothed the path to a
busy concert life. At the age of only 22, he became 1st Solo
Viola of the Berlin Philharmonic
Orchestra.
As a soloist, he performs regularly with renowned
orchestras and distinguished conductors. As a chamber musician, he works
at international festivals as well as in the recording studio with such
outstanding artists as Martha Argerich, Jessye Norman, Daniel Barenboim
and James Levine.
Since 1995, Wolfram Christ has been director of the
Sydney Conservatory of Music.
