Georg Faust,
violoncello, is one of the most well known German cellists. At the
age of 13 he was accepted in Siegfried Palm's master class at the
Cologne Music Conservatory. He completed his studies with Enrico
Mainardi and Gregor Piatigorsky.
Georg Faust has won numerous international
competitions, including the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow. Rudolf
Serkin invited him for several years to his summer festival in Marlboro,
USA. Since 1985, he has been 1st Solo Cellist of the Berlin
Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist, he performs with eminent
conductors worldwide. He has also made recordings and was awarded the
"Grand Prix du disque" in 1990.
Georg Faust plays an instrument by Antonio
Stradivarius, which was made available to him by the Deutsche Bank,
Frankfurt am Main.
