The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra took
the name of the great composer, who had consistently declared himself as a
Hungarian. Although Franz Liszt did not compose any works for string, the
Orchestra adopted his name to pay homage to the genius whose name became
inseparable with the establishment of Hungarian music pedagogy, and whose spirit
irrediates the musical life of the entire world. It is essential to note that
Professor Frigyes Sindor, who was the artistic leader of the Orchestra until his
death in 1979, played an important role in the Orchestra's development.
After having studied for years together at the Franz Liszt
Music Academy in Budapest, the Orchestra made

featured such world-famous solists as: M. André, M. Argerich, I. Oistrakh, J.
P. Rampal, M. Rostropovich, H. Szeryng, Sir Yehudi Menuin and more recently
Isaac Stern who played with them on their South-American tour in 1994 and in
Spain in 1996.
The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra consists of
17 strings and according to the programmes a harpsichord soloist and wind
soloists can complete the Orchestra.
